Loftas’ Europavox collaboration aims to export Vilnius’ music culture to international audiences
Following its recently announced collaboration with six other European Union music venues and showcase festivals, Vilnius’ Loftas music venue hopes this opportunity will internationally promote the Lithuanian capital’s musical and cultural talents.
The partnership is called the Europavox project because it is headed by the French Europavox music showcase festival.
In addition to Loftas and Europavox, the other festivals and venues involved in the tie-up are: Estragon Club (Italy), WUK (Austria), Le Botanique club (Belgium), INMusic (Croatia), and Fuzz Club (Greece)
The collaboration will run from 2016 to 2023. It aims to increase musical collaboration between artists living in the EU, and improve their international development through inter-European dialogue.
The Europavox project was also one of 125 applications that applied for a financial grant from the EU’s creative. It was only one of 15 to receive it.
However, Loftas was unable to confirm the amount of funding the project had received.
“We believe that this is a great opportunity to promote the city of Vilnius on an international level and to wider audiences,” Loftas co-founder Živilė Diawara told Vilnius Municipality. “It is not so frequent that Lithuania becomes involved in projects that get this kind of funding from the EU.
“It shows that our culture is well regarded, and will give Lithuania the chance to promote its talent internationally.”
Loftas’ involvement in the Europavox project will not only bring awareness to Lithuania’s musicians. It will also include over 40 media agencies, institutions, public partners, and 200 I.T. hub startups.
Over the course of the seven-year partnership, each partner will host a Europavox stage at their festival or venue, and will be at the 2016 Loftas Fest festival which takes place between September 2-3.
