Global wireless technology developer LigoWave establishing office and R&D workshop in Sapiegos
LigoWave, a designer and manufacturer of wireless networking devices, has officially announced that it will be joining Sapiegos tech park in Vilnius. LigoWave will be the first hardware development company to set up in the park, establishing both an office for its team of 63 staff and a workshop where it will prototype its unique range of products. In total, the US-based company will occupy 850 square metres of the park’s premises.
LigoWave develops high performance wireless products with an emphasis on innovation, versatility, and affordability. The company’s products have a wide range of uses, from Wi-Fi coverage and video surveillance through to traffic light monitoring, highway safety and traffic management. Other uses include voice and video services, M2M, 3G/4G and small cell backhauling, over-water and oil field communications, real-time data transmission, and smart grid networks.
With its HQ in Georgia, USA, LigoWave’s products are sold in more than a 100 countries. It has an Asian regional office in China, and its Sapiegos office will serve as the company’s regional office for Europe. LigoWave’s expansion of its global operations comes on the back of strong growth in recent years, with over 200,000 devices sold globally.
Thriving among creative minds
According to Jonas Sabaliauskas, LigoWave’s Marketing VP, the company will use its Lithuanian facilities for high end R&D. “While our main manufacturing facilities are located in China and our products are sold globally, we will develop, program, prototype and test our products here in Lithuania,” explained Mr Sabaliauskas. “It will be mostly advanced research and development. Sapiegos was the perfect fit because it offers exactly the right atmosphere for innovation, plus it is a multifunctional space which means we can locate all of our Lithuanian operations in one inspiring place,” said Mr Sabaliauskas.
What’s more, he is convinced that the community events and the onsite conference centre at Sapiegos will provide the company with great opportunities for welcoming guests, sharing insights and showcasing their top-notch technology. “Having a fully equipped conference space just next to our office, and being able to be an active member of this talented community, are both big advantages for us,” he commented.
Promising partnerships
Darius Zakaitis, Managing Director of Sapiegos tech park in Vilnius, foresees great potential for cooperation between LigoWave and the park’s younger startups. “I am proud to welcome LigoWave to the growing Sapiegos tech park community,” said Mr Zaikaitis. “I find LigoWave’s willingness to share their knowledge, combined with their openness to partnerships, very exciting, and I am convinced their presence will create great opportunities for many other entrepreneurs in the park. Wireless is the future, and I am sure that we are about to witness the birth of some impressive innovations as a result of LigoWave collaborating with other great minds in the park.”
With LigoWave joining the Sapiegos community, almost 60 per cent of the park’s office space is already filled. Along with enjoying newly renovated, fully-equipped offices set in serene parkland, members of the Sapiegos community will also benefit from access to its superlative business development network. This includes VC funds and startup accelerators, plus providers of legal, communication and HR services, all of whom offer exclusive community rates. Moreover, every community member will get a number of hour’s usage of the conference centre included in their office price, thus encouraging knowledge sharing within the community. The official launch of the park is set for this September.
