Vilnius Tech Park to house innovative programming school CodeAcademy
The programming school CodeAcademy has announced that it will be joining Sapiegos Vilnius Tech Park, the biggest startup hub in the region. From this autumn, the academy will be giving a wide range of programming classes from its new premises at Vilnius Tech Park. Classes will be given both to members of the Tech Park community and to members of the public wishing to learn the craft of programming.
The importace of institutions like CodeAcademy has never been greater. Reasearch by INFOBALT suggests that Lithuania will soon face a deficit of 10,000 IT specialists. And for businesses, the process of finding and successfully attracting skilled employees in the IT sector can take months and cost hundreds, even thousands of Euros.
Aware of this state of affairs, the founders of CodeAcademy have put together a diverse syllabus of courses. This ranges from those focused on programming (Java, Ruby on Rails, PHP) through to design (UI/UX), project management (Agile) and SEO.
The region’s brightest teachers
CodeAcademy will already be offering courses from their fully equipped classroom in Sapiegos this autumn. And what sets the academy apart from other programming schools in Vilnius is the quality and experience of the teachers.
Those leading the programming courses boast a wealth of experience. Mindaugas Karpinskas, who teaches the Java courses, is a Java full-stack programmer with over 10 years of experience. Meanwhile, the secrets of PHP will be revealed by Povilas Korop, an experienced programmer with an international reputation.
New designers will be learning from Algimantas Jočys, the founder of DIZ studio, whose impressive portfolio of clients includes Viasat, Ecoservice, Vichy water park, Maxima, Swedbank, pigu.lt and 15min.
Budding project managers will benefit hugely from the Agile courses led by Aleksej Kovaliov. A co-founder and board member of the professional association Agile Lietuva, Mr. Kovaliov previously headed up Adform’s technology center. He also made important contributions to the introduction of agile in Teo’s IT department, and has worked with the IT departments of a number of public sector bodies, assisting with the introduction of electronic tax declaration and e-signatures.
And for those interested in internet marketing, the SEO courses offered by Vladas Sapranavičius will be invaluable. Mr. Sapranavičius is an internet marketing specialist who has lectured at Vilnius University and now works as a consultant for companies and businesses, alongside organising and hosting internet marketing and e-commerce seminars, conferences and live shows.
A boost for the community
CodeAcademy’s presence in Sapiegos will help other members of the tech park community both to attract top staff and to enable their employees to further develop their skills, as the park’s founder Darius Žakaitis explains. “Talent attraction is one of the biggest challenges for startups and IT companies all over the world,” he points out. “That’s why we wanted to have the leading providers of programming courses within the Tech Park’s community. They will help the companies established here to raise the competence and improve the knowledge of their employees. I also believe that CodeAcademy, operating from their fully-equipped classroom in our new cooperation space, will help to attract more talented people to the Vilnius Tech Park ecosystem,” Mr. Žakaitis concludes.
The first courses at the new CodeAcademy premises will start on October 3rd, 2016.
