Vilnius airport – even more family friendly
From now on Vilnius International Airport will be paying even greater attention to passengers travelling with young children. The airport already changed the marking of the family lines, and the parents are offered greatly functional solutions that will make travelling with children even more enjoyable.
‘The family segment is greatly important to us. We make all the effort to ensure that travelling with children not only cause no difficulties, but rather becomes a pleasant experience for the entire family. For that reason in the Vilnius International Airport we will be putting in place some new arrangements that will ensure even more convenience for travelling families‘, says Tomas Rytel, Director of the Organizational Development Department of the Lithuanian Airports.
We have decided to renew the marking of the aviation security checkpoint – now it will clearly prioritize families with young children. From now on the checkpoint is more colorful, and shaped as a playful allusion to the Yellow Brick Road.‘
One more novelty especially handy for families travelling with small children – baby carriages that from now are available in as many as five boarding bridges of the Vilnius airport, the so-called sleeves. The carriages will serve well families with small children, when upon arrival they will be able to conveniently go to the luggage pickup place. However, it is worthwhile noting that such carriages can be picked up, and dropped only in specially arranged and marked venues only.
The airport makes a trip much more convenient also in the cases where only one parent travels with a young child. The aviation security check points at all the three airports now offer baby chairs and berths – those are very handy when a parent – a mother or a father – has to hold a child and at the same time produce his boarding pass, prepare the luggage for security check, and in addition prepare himself for the security check, i.e. take off his or her top garments.
Shortly the airport plans to renew and modernize children’s playgrounds on its premises.
