Speaking at the launch of the Vilnius Welcome Kit, Vilnius Mayor Remigijus Šimašius noted that “2016 has been a good year for Vilnius. It was named the happiest capital city in the European Union, described as “a city of the future”, and is becoming increasingly attractive to guests from abroad to live, work, and visit.“
“People who come to Vilnius say they are pleasantly surprised. On the one hand, this is great news, but on the other, it should not be a surprise. There is still a lack of information about our city for professionals, investors, and guests from other countries. This is why the Go Vilnius team developed the Vilnius Welcome Kit, which provides information about Vilnius being a desirable place to live and work, and a city that is friendly and open to everyone from everywhere!”
The Vilnius Welcome Kit consists of two information packs. The first is called “Be With Us In Vilnius” and is designed to give an overview of the benefits of living and working in Vilnius.
The second, “Here With Us In Vilnius”, is a practical guide for those who have chosen to relocate to Vilnius. It contains all the necessary practical information regarding finding a place to live, legal residency, registering with a doctor or school, plus all other day-to-day matters.
All the information in the Welcome Kit is written in English.
According to Rusnė Valaikienė, Director for Recruitment and Relocation at Western Union’s Vilnius office, the information provided in the Vilnius Welcome Kit is most welcome and long overdue.
She noted: “We see that for international professionals to develop a career at Western Union, they are more than happy to discuss the possibility of relocating to Lithuania. But they need a guide. Our Lithuanian team is made up of around 1,600 employees, and around 10 percent of these are from abroad. Sometimes they need some basic help on getting settled and oriented in Lithuania.
“When looking to effectively attract international talent, we recently started working with the City of Vilnius City and Go Vilnius, because we share the same philosophy on making integration and relocation easier for employees from abroad.”
Go Vilnius Director Darius Udrys explained that the Vilnius Welcome Kit was developed with the help of international companies operating in the Lithuanian capital as well as professionals who have chosen to live and work here.
With this in mind, the Welcome Kit presents Vilnius, what makes it attractive to residents and visitors alike, and answers “how to” questions that new arrivals may have about living and working here.
Udrys says he believes the Vilnius Welcome Kit will be helpful to businesses and the talent they need to attract and promised that the Go Vilnius team will help companies adapt it to their needs.
The launch of the Vilnius Welcome Kit took place at Rise Vilnius, a purpose-built workspace for the FinTech community owned by Barclays.
The Vilnius Welcome Kit is available for everyone, and Go Vilnius will help businesses and individuals adapt it according to their needs. It can be downloaded at www.govilnius.lt and www.vilnius.lt/en.
