This year the kindness campaign “Let’s meet up over coffee” to start in Vilnius will include theatre performances to entertain seniors

It is on November 25 that the16th kindness campaign for the seniors “Let’s meet up over coffee” will start in Vilnius. The senior residents of Vilnius are invited by the Vilnius Mayor Remigijus Šimašius to have a treat of free coffee or tea in the cafés taking part in the campaign. The Lithuanian National Drama Theatre (LNDT) that joined the campaign partners this year will offer special price tickets to the senior citizens. Moreover, on the campaign opening occasion it will invite them to a free performance. The campaign “Let’s meet up over coffee” will be held every Sunday from November 27 to January 8.

“As we approach the most beautiful Year celebrations we once again invite our city seniors to come together in cafés for cozy conversation over a nice cup of coffee. Coffee and theater are inseparable, thus this year the campaign is exceptional – it was joined not only by more than half a hundred of the capital city cafés, but also by the Lithuanian National Drama Theatre, which during the campaign will apply special prices for seniors.  I am glad that the kindness campaign continues to grow and attracts great initiatives in the friendly city, “- said the Mayor of Vilnius Remigijus Šimašius.

“As many as 56 cafés, restaurants and hotels will be expecting the seniors every Sunday since November 27 to January 8. I am particularly pleased that a number of restaurants of our capital will offer the seniors coffee on the other days too, i.e. the restaurant “Burė No1” is open for the seniors for a free cup of delicious coffee or tea on Mondays, and the café “Pasitarimų baras” (Municipality building, ground floor) will serve the seniors coffee and tea on Fridays. This year the campaign network expanded even further. More catering establishments located in the residential areas joined the “Let’s meet up over coffee” campaign. So the seniors will be able to get a free treat in cozy café nearer to their homes.”

Elderly residents of Vilnius, visiting cafés, restaurants, etc. that joined the campaign will be able to have coffee or tea having submitted their pensioner’s certificate.

“We are pleased that the opening of the campaign “Let’s meet up over coffee” will take place at the Lithuanian National Drama Theatre. This season our theatre introduced a Large Family Card, which gives discounts for large families. Continuing initiatives of social responsibility we will not only offer special prices on tickets for elderly people this year, but will also invite the seniors to a free performance on the opening day of this important campaign”- said Martynas Budraitis, Director General of the Lithuanian National Drama Theatre,  stressing the importance of participation in the campaign.
