Povilas Poderskis is a newly appointed Chief Executive Director of Capital City Administration
Today, the meeting of the City Council of the Capital City elected a new Chief Executive Director of the Administration. By majority vote Povilas Poderskis, who until present had worked as the Advisor to the Mayor on IT and open data matters, was appointed to this position.
“Povilas is innovative with extensive knowledge of the whole municipal structure and during two years accomplished considerably more than it could be expected from him in his position and achieved numerous essential developments for Vilnius. I believe that Vilnius will become more accelerated, open and advanced with the help of Povilas”, – says Remigijus Šimašius, Vilnius City Mayor.
Since April 2015, Povilas Poderskis has worked as the Advisor to the Mayor of the Capital City for IT and open data matters. During two years of work for the City P. Poderskis together with the E-city Department team was continuously looking for solutions how to improve the efficiency of work of the Municipality, increased access to e-services for residents, opened the Municipality’s data for Vilnius residents, formed the IT and smart city policy.
“In my opinion, a good manager must be able to delegate, know the limits of his competence, keep consulting and listening to his staff, admit when he cannot understand something and not to pass over problems in silence. Vilnius needs an active and innovative head of the Administration, who together with experienced deputies in his team would be able to unlock the potential of professional and industrious staff members of the Administration, and the implementation of innovations will help them to satisfy better the needs of residents”, – says P. Poderskis.
P. Poderskis is the director and founder of Kompiuteriukų paramos fondas, the originator of the campaign during which this autumn all pupils of the fifth grade in Lithuania were provided with a tool for the development of programming and creativity skills – a micro:bit computer. The new Chief Executive Director of the Administration continuously participates in different social activities aimed at promoting the interest of schoolchildren in IT, technical creation and programming.
Before starting to work at the City, P. Poderskis had worked for a year and a half as a project manager for an IT company and had run a programmers’ team for another year. The new CED has been working in the IT field already for about ten years.
In 2012, Povilas Poderskis completed the studies of electronics and telecommunications at Kaunas University of Technology.
