Schüco Increases its Activities in Vilnius
Schüco, a German manufacturer of windows, doors, and façade systems, creates a centre of engineering services in Vilnius. The company plans to build a team of construction and mechanical engineering professionals, which will provide services to the clients of the company in Northern Europe.
“Lithuanians have been creating and manufacturing products for the markets of the Scandinavian countries for years; therefore, in order to expand to those countries, we decided to use the competencies and skills present in Lithuania to meet the needs of clients of a market that is important to us,” claims Magnus Winegård, General Manager Europe North at Schüco.
The company’s professionals employed in Lithuania will be responsible for the creation of new façade systems, including 2D and 3D drawings and engineering modelling. The company is convinced that this will help to increase the sales in Northern Europe and it hopes that in several years the subdivision in Lithuania will begin providing services to the company’s clients in the United Kingdom and other countries in Western Europe.
“Lithuanian professionals have proved their competence in engineering spheres many times; however, Lithuania is rarely chosen as the location of investments for service centres of foreign companies not only for engineering, but also aesthetic competences. These insights of the management of Schüco bring Lithuania one step closer to the Scandinavian countries because not only a similar work culture, but also fundamentally stronger connections are already observed in Lithuania,” says Gediminas Koryzna, head of investment promotion at the foreign investment promotion agency “Invest Lithuania”.
Schüco, which was founded in 1951, currently employs over 4,700 people, while its network of manufacturers, architects, and technology developers in 80 countries worldwide includes approximately 12,000. In 2016, the company’s turnover was EUR 1.46 billion.
